In the last 20 years, the majority of the poorest countries have suffered from war. After establishing peace almost half of these countries relapsed in the former state of conflict. Most post-war reconstruction strategies, which aim to help the whole population in the area of conflict, neglect the uniqueness and different needs of disparate groups in the society. Often women are one of such groups.
The KAP Project addressed the issue of Violent Extremism in Afghanistan and Libya, highlighting it as a major obstacle for women, peace and security, and to women‘s inclusive political participation. During the project implementation, the focus has been to counter the spread of violent extremism by empowering the youth to promote non-violent political and religious narratives which are compatible with human rights and women’s rights.
Gender Concerns were invited to a three-day workshop in Freetown. Gender Concerns provided training in knowledge of gender-sensitive vocabulary, gender mainstreaming, international and national gender instruments, and gender budgeting.
Campaign focused on highlighting the contribution made by Afghan women to the continuation of the peace and security process of their own country.
The ‘Hello Sirs!’-campaign aimed to highlight and raise awareness of 60 years of women’s rights violations in Kashmir. It advocated that men involved in the conflict should be held accountable for the humanitarian crimes against women.
